On the Podcast "Broadway Block", New York Rangers legend Sam Rosen appeared today and shared his true thoughts on center Noah Laba. Laba, originally a 4th-round draft pick of the Blueshirts, has found himself in the regular-season lineup.
The New York Rangers have had a good problem when it comes to the lineup. They've been good enough to compete in the playoffs consistently, until last season.
A shakeup would follow, as General Manager Chris Drury would make major trades and hire a new coach this postseason.
With the beginning of training camp, questions surrounded certain prospects, and what would become of their progress, and their ability to win a
spot on the roster.
For
former 4th-round pick Noah Laba, he's found a home on the Rangers' 3rd line. On the "Broadway Block" podcast, former Rangers announcer Sam Rosen, who retired last season, shared his opinion on the prospect.
"He's a real good skater, doesn't shy away from the physical, and has steadily improved". Those are massive compliments from someone who's seen 40 years of Rangers hockey.
As he said, it's a great sign, but the worry was wondering where he'd fit in on a win-now team.
Noah Laba's NHL Career Has Begun
As Laba's career begins, he has played two games in the league for the Rangers. The former Colorado College production hasn't scored a point in the NHL yet, but being a 3rd-liner isn't always about being a points-producer right away; it's more about being a great forechecker.
He's played an average time on ice of 13:31, with a Corsi-for% of 54.8, which is a great underlying statistic for a rookie like Laba. He's had 2 shots on goal, 2 blocks, and 3 hits as a defensive forward with the Blueshirts.
Laba
signed his ELC with the Rangers on March 18th, 2025.
