The New York Rangers will be facing off against the Buffalo Sabres for their second game of the 2025-26 season, resulting in Mike Sullivan to make a controversial decision involving captain J.T. Miller.
After the Rangers disastrous home opener on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins as they took a 3-0 loss, they will be looking to bounce back and redeem themselves with a victory during Thursday nights game against the Sabres.
With that being said, several rink side reporters have revealed that Mike Sullivan will be rolling the same lines as he did in game one against the Penguins.
It looks like the lines will stay the same for tomorrow's game in Buffalo:

Along with this, it was also confirmed that Igor Shesterkin will be starting in nets as well.
Mike Sullivan Confirms Controversial Decision With J.T. Miller
Some might say that would be his controversial move, as it was clear that things didn't go to plan during their first game. However, the bigger controversial move is that he confirmed captain J.T. Miller will be playing in Thursday nights game.
J.T. Miller will play tonight for #NYR vs. Buffalo, per Mike Sullivan.
Now many might be wondering why this move is controversial, and the reason behind why is due to the fact Miller stated his legs felt heavy during their first game after he had just returned from an lower-body injury he sustained in the preseason.
J.T. Miller was asked how he's feeling after the game having not played a lot in the preseason:
"Not great. Kind of what I expected."
"Not great. Kind of what I expected."
I understand that Sullivan want's to have a strong start to the season. However, i think it would be in the best interest to let Miller rest and return when he's 100% ready to go so he doesn't risk any further injuries.
