The New York Rangers shut out the Buffalo Sabres on their home ice last night. After a satisfying win, Captain JT Miller was given the game puck and took a light-hearted jab at his newest head coach, Mike Sullivan.

The New York Rangers secured their first win of the year against the Buffalo Sabres with a shutout.
Despite the setbacks, such as losing Vinnie Trocheck to an injury, the team pushed through and defeated the Sabres soundly.
Captain JT Miller would October 10, 2025 ' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>get the game puck with his first regular-season win as Captain in the record books.
After all of the hustle and bustle of the offseason, the was a bit of reprieve as the team played good enough to protect Igor Shesterkin, and give him a chance to shut out the opposition.
Mike Sullivan would quip:

Is This The Year the New York Rangers Turn it around?

We won't be childish enough to suggest "this is our year", or think a clever slogan like "out of our blue we rise" (what does that mean exactly?) will be what turns the team's losing ways into victories.
That'll require the kind of hard work that Miller is used to putting in every night, as a hard-nosed hockey player. That will include long video meetings too, as the team will need to clean up their act in order to put themselves back into "win-now" territory, though.
Now is the time to strap in, as the team is 1-1-0 in the regular season.
Miller finished the 2024-25 season with 70 points (35-35) and is the team's 1st-line center.
Is he now the team's North Star, and guide to their next run to the Stanley Cup playoffs?
