Earlier on Friday night troubling reports surfaced regarding New York Rangers former first-round draft pick (30th Overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, as he was sidelined during his NCAA season opener due to an injury.

According to reports from Brad Elliott Schlossman, Rangers defensive prospect E.J. Emery would miss his NCAA season opener with the University of North Dakota after sustaining a injury during the offseason.
E.J. Emery is out (day-to-day). NCAA debuts incoming for Cole Reschny, Jack Kernan, Will Zellers, Ollie Josephson, Josh Zakreski, Keaton Verhoeff and Sam Laurila.
Certainly some very unfortunate news for the 19-year old prospect, as he had also missed six-games last season with a lower-body injury he sustained on February 22nd, 2025.
However, some decent news was also revealed by Brad Elliott Schlossman, as he had stated that Emery is only considered day-to-day and did practice with his team on Thursday. Confirming that it's nothing to serious.

New York Rangers Happy With Drafting E.J. Emery With The 30th Overall Pick

E.J. Emery who stands at 6-foot-3, 183 pounds at just 19-years old said being selected by the Rangers with the No. 30 pick was one of the best outcomes he could have hoped for.
Something the organization agrees with as scouts and the prospect believes his game is similar to former New York Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller.
«I would say I'm really good at being a lockdown guy, someone who can shut down plays, get the puck up the ice and make plays.» Emery said. «I model my game after K'Andre Miller, so I'm not complaining about wearing this jersey.»
