It appears Chris Drury is ready to swing for the fences, if the Vegas Golden Knights aren't capable of locking down their #1 center, Jack Eichel. According to ESPN's Emily Kaplan, the Rangers are in the running for his services, should he not sign an extension in Vegas.

What a bit of irony, should Jack Eichel return to the East Coast after he ran to get away from the Buffalo Sabres in 2021-22.
Though we may not hear news of an Eichel extension out of Vegas just yet, there's no doubt a push to sign him, even after the latest Mitch Marner trade, which saw them dish Nicolas Roy for the superstar forward.
«I think other teams around the league are expecting it (Eichel contract extension with the Golden Knights) to get done,» ESPN's Emily Kaplan said.

«I haven't heard anything about Eichel not wanting to get it done, so my expectation that is something that gets done this summer, but we shall see, and if he does happen to say 'oh wait,

I would rather go play on the East Coast or maybe I'm not ready to make a decision yet,' then obviously the Rangers would be very high on the list of teams he'd be interested in along with the Boston Bruins of course.»

As it stands right now, the Golden Knights have -$7.6 million in cap space. Will it come to a head that the Rangers have a shot to sign him?
Eichel scored 94 points (28-76) in 77 games with the Golden Knights this season and would continue his postseason tear, scoring 10 points in 11 games.
He's managed to fill the gaps left by past Golden Knights stars who have moved on to greener pastures and taken ownership of the team's direction.
The Rangers are desperate for another forward who plays all 60 minutes and puts 110% of his best effort into every game.
Eichel, like J.T. Miller, would be a game changer and would put the team back into win-now mode legitimately.
While Eichel could stand to be paid a handsome $96 million with his newest extension, the ink isn't dry, and nothing is certain.
