Must See: Alex Ovechkin Hilariously Roasts New York Rangers Legend After Netting His 900th NHL Goal
Last night, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 900th NHL goal, reaching a milestone no one had ever achieved before. After the game, he playfully chirped his former rival Henrik Lundqvist in the TV studio.
With a nasty backhand goal in the second period of the Washington Capitals 6-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues, Ovechkin became the first NHL player ever to reach 900 NHL goals, not long after tying Wayne Gretzky's all time goal score.
However, Ovi wasn't quite finished there as after the game he decided to jokingly roast his longtime rival and New York Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist while being interviewed by the TNT Panel.
Alexander Ovechkin Roasted Henrik Lundqvist Following 900th NHL Goal
After the game on Wednesday night, Alex Ovechkin spoke with several of the TNT Panel host, which during that time Henrik Lundqvist gave him some much-deserved credit for reaching such an amazing milestone in his career.
«I have to say, even though you scored a lot against me, I loved playing against you for 15 years. It was so challenging every time, but I loved it,» Lundqvist told Ovechkin.
Then analyst Anson Carter asked Ovechkin which goal was his most memorable, and Ovechkin didn't hesitate to poke fun at Lundqvist and the Rangers:
«Probably against you, man - the Rangers all the time,» Ovechkin said, making the studio erupt in laughter.
Alexander Ovechkin Scored A Total Of 24 Goals Against Henrik Lundqvist
During his 20-year goal chase, Ovechkin has scored on his division rival Henrik Lundqvist only 24 times, the second-most of any goaltender he's faced.
With the number one spot goes to Marc-Andre Fleury, who has conceded 28 goals against Ovechkin.
Certainly a huge accomplishment for the NHL Legend, now the next big question remaining how many goals will Ovi get before he retires?
