After last night's blowout in Madison Square Garden, the Rangers were subject to some boo's. That included goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who bore the brunt of a lot of the derision. Despite the reaction, he felt the team could do better.
That's what makes him a lovable goaltender. His humility keeps him grounded and endears him to fans.
Although we must say, the prospect of dealing with a shutout loss to your divisional rivals is tough to stomach. Did the Rangers
look well-coached?
The team was looking great during their West Coast road trip, but was unable to piece together a win against a consistent threat.
In light of all the booing filling Madison Square Garden last night, Igor Shesterkin faced it head-on:
Igor Shesterkin did his Best, but it was not good Enough.
Shesterkin would stop 29 of 31 shots on goal before the Rangers would leave the net open near the end in order to place an extra attacker on the ice.
The team would fall to an existential foe, and would look bad to the fans who have had high hopes for a rebound year since Mike Sullivan had arrived.
It was another strong effort from Shesterkin that went unrewarded due to the Rangers' offensive struggles. The 29-year-old netminder has allowed two goals or fewer in eight of 11 starts to begin the season en route to a 2.26 GAA and .915 save percentage, but he's just 3-4-1 in those outings.
It looks as if it was another game we've seen before. Shesterkin shoulders the burden, while the team fails to provide support again.
