Mike Sullivan Stun Fans As He Surprisingly Credits The Carolina Hurricanes After Another Disappointing Loss

The New York Rangers' own Mike Sullivan credited Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour for this decisive shutout last night in Madison Square Garden. The team gave up three goals in a heartbreaking loss during their Centennial Season.
The Carolina Hurricanes have been a perennial contender in the NHL since Rod's ascension into the coaching role in 2018-19. He's turned them into a fierce contender and a foe to the Rangers.
Last night, after the Blueshirts suffered a shutout to their rivals, Mike Sullivan would go as far as to credit the Hurricanes and Brind'Amour for their victory.
The Athletic's Peter Baugh:
The New York Rangers Couldn't Stop the Carolina Hurricanes
Instead of pressing the team in the third, it sounds like Sullivan and company let the Hurricanes control the ice last night.
They'd give
Pyotr Kochetkov a free shutout, and fans a bruised ego with Sullivan's sportmanlike comments.
Albeit well earned, instead of crediting Brind'Amour should've figured out how to neutralize the Hurricanes instead of being trapped in the opposition's system.
Either way, the team didn't do well enough to defend Madison Square Garden last night. Have they found or lost
their true identity?
The Rangers have fallen to 5th in the Metropolitan Division, with a record of 6-6-2. This looks like the team needs to shape up before being considered a team ready for the playoffs.
