New York Rangers player Brett Berard has an interesting living arrangement, which isn't too dissimilar to billet families in Junior Hockey. Though the only difference here is that Berard has to pay rent, and in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he mentioned he lives with a family of superfans.

The New York Rangers forward Brett Berard's living situation is quirky. It's in a good way, as the forward has found a home in the basement of New York Rangers fans in Connecticut.
Berard's offseason is home, literally in a basement in Darien, Connecticut, with the Fiorita family.
The 22-year-old explained in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that he lives in a basement below a family of six Rangers fanatics. And the setup's «literally perfect".

Berard's Accidental Family in Connecticut

He came upon the Fiorita family by way of a friend, Petey Alofsin, who knew the family's eldest son through a fraternity.
"Petey's like 'No way, my best friend from school lives in Darien, you should talk to him,'» Berard told WSJ.

Berard is in the third year of his ELC with the Rangers, and you could consider the arrangement strange, but for him, it's worth it.
Missy Fiorita didn't believe that an actual Rangers player would ever move into the home at the beginning.
"In the back of my mind, I was like, 'This isn't gonna happen. A Ranger's not going to move into our house,' " she recalled.

As longtime supporters of the Rangers, and the family who's attended plenty of games, including a few of Berard's.
Since then, Missy and the family have welcomed him into the home as one of their own. It's allowed Berard to save money on rent during the offseason, in which he rents an apartment in nearby Hartford.
"We were all on pins and needles, but as soon as he walked in the door, it was like, 'I'm not welcoming this kid into my home for X amount of time. I'm welcoming him to being part of our family," she said.

Berard has become a staple in the home, and enjoys everything families like to do together, watch movies, play sports, and Rummikub lately.
