Devastating News Strikes As Former Original-Six Forward Sadly Passes Away At 67-Years Old

Devastating news strikes the hockey community as the Toronto Maple Leafs organization confirms that a former original-six forward has sadly passed away at the age of 67-years old.
Several reports confirm that former Maple Leafs and Red Wings forward, Mark Kirton, has sadly passed at a young age following a battle with ALS.
Kirton began his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 1979-80, and only lasted two seasons before being traded to the to the Detroit Red Wings in 1980-81. He also spent three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks.
"We are saddened to learn of the passing of Mark Kirton following a battle with ALS.
Mark made his NHL debut with the blue and white and would go on to spend 8 seasons in the NHL. In 2018, he was diagnosed with ALS and in 2020 he founded ALS Action Canada with PALS (Patients with ALS), a patient-led initiative to find a cure. The Leafs Alumni Association were proud to name Mark a recent recipient of the Carl Brewer Memorial award in recognition of his work.

Mark Kirton played a total of eight years in the National Hockey League
Mark Kirton suited up in a total of eight NHL seasons in the NHL, spanning from teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and the Vancouver Canucks.
Along with this he also had pretty successful career stint in the American Hockey Team with several teams including the Adirondack Wings (AHL), Fredericton Express (AHL), and the Newmarket Saints (AHL).
