New York Rangers Failed PTO Signing Signs New Deal With Divisional Rivals Just Days Before Opening-Night

New York Rangers most recent failed PTO signings has just secured another Professional Tryout with one the Rangers biggest divisional rivals.

Earlier throughout the offseason, the New York Rangers signed 6-foor-7 veteran defenseman Andrej Sustr to a Professional Tryout (PTO), as he was looking to make a return to the National Hockey League.
The 34-year old veteran, last played in the NHL was during the 2021-22 season with the Anaheim Ducks. Since then he has played in the AHL, the DEL in Germany, and last year he split time between HC Dynamo Pardubice in Czechia, and Tappara in the Finnish Liiga.
#NYR are adding defenseman Andrej Sustr to their training camp roster on a PTO.

Sustr, 34, spent the last three years playing in Europe.

There are now 19 players who have signed #NHL tryout agreements with camps opening next week.
However, things took an unexpected turn on September 29th for the veteran, as the New York Rangers decided to release Sustr from his professional tryout. Putting an end to his dream of returning to the NHL, until a new development has just surfaced.

Andrej Sustr Secures New Professional Tryout With The New York Islanders AHL Affiliate Team

According to new reports on Friday night, it appears that the veteran defenseman didn't waste any time has secured himself a new PTO with the New York Islanders affiliate team in the American Hockey League, the Bridgeport Islanders, just five days after being released from the Rangers.
Bridgeport #Isles have signed RHD Andrej Sustr to an AHL PTO.

The 34-year-old was released from his #NYR PTO on Sept. 29.
The former NHL defenseman will bring 361 NHL games of experience to the Islanders organization, along with some much need size on their defensive end as he stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs 216 pounds.
Sustr is also known for his offense as he had two outstanding seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Along with being a right handed defenseman, who has averaged 16:14 per game throughout his career, tallying 11 goals and 58 assists for 69 points.
