Intriguing Trade Proposal Surfaces Between The Rangers And Buffalo Sabres Involving Star Forward
The New York Rangers need help up front in the top-six. That could require massive sacrifice on the part of GM Chris Drury who may have to consider a trade for Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch, who could cost the team Will Cuylle and a draft pick in this scenario.
The New York Rangers have been linked to top-six forward
Alex Tuch of the Buffalo Sabres. For the Rangers, this would be an upgrade to a top-six that has been underperforming lately.
With the 2024-25 season done and over with they need to focus on picking up the best pieces they can to put them back into win-now territory. After a 36-goal year, Tuch could be the player who checks multiple boxes for the team.
That could come in the Buffalo Sabres' own Alex Tuch, whom GM Chris Drury might have to pay a pretty penny for.
The intriguing trade proposal comes from Heavy.com:
Alex Tuch and the New York Rangers
For this deal to make any sense, GM Chris Drury would have to extend Tuch beyond his $33.25 million contract expiring, especially if the Rangers were to move Will Cuylle and a 1st-round draft pick.
Tuch has scored 30 goals or more in the last three seasons in the NHL and could provide the kind of offense
Artemi Panarin and
Mika Zibanejad have struggled to provide.
This deal assumes that GM Kevyn Adam of the Sabres will retain 50% of his salary in order to sweeten the deal.
It would be painful to get rid of Cuylle, but for the Sabres, they need pieces that are NHL-ready and Cuylle is one of them.
