With these two fights, O'Brien and McBain became the first pair of teammates since 1988, to each achieve a Gordie Howe hat trick in the same game.

The last time it was achieved, Jack McBain's father, Andrew McBain, and his teammate, Peter Taglianetti, accomplished this for the Winnipeg Jets.
