Trusted NHL insider has just revealed the New York Rangers are on the verge of making a very bold move regarding superstar forward when it comes to his contract extension.

Insider Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, had recently shared his thoughts on the New York Rangers situation involving superstar forward Artemi Panarin, who only has one year remains on the seven-year deal, worth $11.6 million in average annual value.
With that being said, Seravalli revealed that he believes the New York Rangers President and General Manager, Chris Drury, is comfortable waiting to see how the season plays out before making a final decision on Panarin.
«I think they're comfortable waiting to see how this season goes, if they either fall short of making the playoffs or if they're a team that is not very competitive. I think they're going to let him walk.» - Frank Seravalli

Something that leaves many fans to believe the organization will in fact part ways with the 32-year old forward, especially given his struggles early in the 2025-26 season.

New York Rangers Willing To Let Artemi Panarin Walk In Free Agency?

If the New York Rangers were to let Panarin walk during free agency it would certainly be one of there boldest moves. However, it would provide them with plenty of cap space that the organization can surely utilize, but at the same time letting him walk means the Rangers won't receive any assets.
Panarin joined the Rangers as a free agent back in 2019, and has since became one of the best players the organization has seen in a very long time, along with becoming one of the top players in the entire NHL.
Since his arrival to New York, he tallied 186 goals and 552 points in 435 regular season games as well as four playoff runs where he has produced 12 goals and 35 points in 46 games. Along with helping the Rangers make the conference finals twice. So letting him walk for nothing would certainly be bold.
A lot rides on the New York Rangers 2025-26 season, and it's safe to say Panarin isn't off to the greatest start considering he only has two assists through five games with the Rangers thus far.
