During the New York Rangers game on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers , head coach Mike Sullivan made the ultimate decision to bench one defenseman late in the game.
The New York Rangers have been facing a very tough time this season to score a goal on home ice at Madison Square Garden as they have just created NHL History for being the the first team in NHL history to be shutout in each of their first three home games to begin a new season.
With that being said, Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan made the decision to bench 26-year old defenseman Urho Vaakanainen, resulting in him to only get two shifts during the third period as there was very little room for error.
Looks like Urho Vaakanainen is getting benched.

Mike Sullivan Reveals Reasoning Behind Benching Urho Vaakanainen
Following the New York Rangers game, head coach Mike Sullivan was faced with the media and revealed the reasoning behind why he decided to bench Vaakanainen.
Here's what he had to say:
Apparently it wasn't due to his performance but more of a circumstantial move due to the way the Oilers made changes with their lineups.
However, with that being said, hopefully the New York Rangers will build off their performance from the last two games and secure a victory in their next game, which will be on Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
