Newly acquired forward Conor Sheary joined the New York Rangers on a PTO during preseason. After earning a full-time contract, he and Mike Sullivan are part and parcel in the plan of putting the team back on a winning path. He shared his thoughts on the current slump.
The New York Rangers could be snake-bitten,
but for forward Conor Sheary, he sees things in a different light.
In regard to the
ongoing slump that the team is suffering through, Sheary shared his thoughts on the matter. The team is 0-3 in Madison Square Garden, and each game has ended in a shutout.
The team set a record for this stretch of games, which, for all intents and purposes, should be shameful.
The Rangers' 180-minute drought at Madison Square Garden is the second longest to start a season at home, behind only the now-defunct Pittsburgh Pirates in 1928. They went the first 187:19 without a goal at Duquesne Gardens before Hib Milks scored. The Pirates' streak was longer because of overtime.
Conor Sheary Shares His Thoughts On The Slump
Conor Sheary's answer was blatant and common sense when it comes to the sport of hockey. Instead of feeling sorry about the whole ordeal, he feels they need to make the best of their opportunities and crash the net.
The team will need to create scoring chances so when the goals do come, they come in bunches.
Sounds familiar, right? An orthodox hockey answer if we've ever heard one. But the fundamentals of the sport never change.
The Rangers need to get back to basics and play gritty hockey in order to find their game again.
