Another Roster Move Incoming?: Unfortunate Injury Update Provides The Rangers With $2.7M In Cap Relief
The New York Rangers have placed their superstar center on LTIR, leaving the team with $2.7 million in cap space. That leaves them capable of making a serious call-up from the Hartford Wolfpack, which could involve a top prospect.
The New York Rangers could
use some help after a three-game slump at home.
The Blueshirts, according to a report from PuckPedia, have $2.7 million in cap space available after placing Vinnie Trocheck on long-term injured reserve.
They used the available money so far to call up former 1st-round pick and defenseman
Scott Morrow.
The New York Rangers Call-up Top Prospect Gabe Perreault
With $2.7 million in cap space, they could bring up a forward who could vault himself into the top six when he's fully developed. But now, it would be a perfect excuse for the team to give him another long look in the NHL after 5 games last season.
He's joined the Wolfpack for 1 game (1A) and has
scored a goal in his first pro hockey game in the minors. He could also be an impact player on the third line, where
Jonny Brodzinski currently occupies.
The Rangers could have a dynamic bottom-six with Gabe Perreault utilizing his excellent shot, while Laba delivers on the playmaking.
It could be a match made in heaven, should GM Chris Drury feel the need to bring Gabe Perreault up from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.
