New York Rangers star goaltender Igor Shesterkin speaks out on goalie safety in the National Hockey League after witnessing Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender being involved in a scary situation.

On Thursday night the New York Rangers faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs, when goaltender Anthony Stolarz was involved in a scary situation as his mask popped off and the play continued, resulting in J.T. Miller to send a slapshot his way without a mask on.
Something that could've been a very ugly situation if the puck managed to hit him in the face or head, thankfully that wasn't the case. But now, Anthony Stolarz and Igor Shesterkin have both spoken out on how there needs to be a major rule change.

Igor Shesterkin And Anthony Stolarz Speak Out on Goalie Safety: Changes Need To Be Made

Following the Rangers and Maple Leafs game, both goaltender Igor Shesterkin and Anthony Stolarz, spoke out on the dangers of the current rule that's in place, as the rule states the play can continue if the opposing team is in the middle of a potential scoring chance. However, this is just asking for a dangerous outcome.
"This is the second time it's happened. Happened to Adin Hill the other night as well. So, hopefully we can find a compromise. It's not like goalies are trying to knock our helmets off.

I mean, without the buckle, you can't really see the puck, you can't really track or do anything. As soon as you move your head, it falls off.

So, hopefully the league can look at it and talk to some goalies or people who have knowledge of the position, and we can come to some sort of compromise where our safety isn't put at risk there."

Not long after, Igor Shesterkin backed up what Stolarz was sayin as he openly admitted that the play should have been blown dead the moment a goalie mask comes off.
Igor Shesterkin, Stolarz's opponent last night, on when a goalie loses his mask: «They should (blow) a whistle right away because it's a very dangerous play.»
