The New York Rangers need to improve their blue line if they're to make it back to the playoffs. And what better way to do that than to steal away a reliable blueliner from your rivals?
The Cost to Acquire Adam Pelech
Heavy.com's latest trade proposal sees the Rangers acquire veteran defenseman Adam Pelech from the Islanders for what could be considered expensive:
Rangers acquire:
Adam PelechIslanders acquire:
Scott Morrow
2026 second-round pick (Hurricanes)
While the Rangers would have to give up a prospect like Scott Morrow and a 2nd-round pick, they could improve the lineup with a playoff-tested veteran like Pelech.
Pelech has over 50+ games of playoff experience during his career under Barry Trotz's leadership and has been a contributor as well. While not known for his offense, he's managed to score 16 points in 59 games with the Islanders.
While proving to be a reliable top-four performer on the Island.
Last season, he scored 21 points (21 A) in 60 games with the Islanders, and would be a rental for the Rangers unless they can convince him to sign an extension as a Blueshirt.
The deal would be a game-changer for the team, whose struggled to protect
Igor Shesterkin, and this would be another huge step towards contention for the team.
The Rangers would give up Scott Morrow and the 2nd-round pick they received for
K'Andre Miller.
It seems like a bargain to me.
