Seattle Kraken's General Manager Jason Botterill stuns many fans after securing former New York Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko to a three-year contract extension this offseason.
During a recent interview, Kraken's General Manager Jason Botterill opened up and admitted that signing former Rangers forward, Kaapo Kakko, was at the top of his priorities list this offseason as he and the organization believes the 24-year old has a ton of potential.
Clearly something they made sure other organizations knew as the the Seattle Kraken signed Kakko to a three-year, $13.575 million contract with an average annual value of $4.525 million.

Jason Botterill has recently spoken to the media, and has revealed how he truly feels about securing Kaapo Kakko. Here's what he had to say:
«Getting a contract done with Kaapo was a top priority this summer,» Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said. "We knew quickly he'd be a big part of our team moving forward.

New York Rangers Traded Kaapo Kakko During The 2024-25 Season
Kakko's role with the New York Rangers was very stagnant, and it was clear that the 24-year old needed a fresh start, which lead to GM Chris Drury trading him to the Seattle Kraken and acquired defenseman Will Borgen in return.
Not long after Kaako joined the Kraken, he started to play some of his best hockey of his NHL career, where he managed to tally 10 goals, 20 assists, for a total of 30 points in just 49 games, while averaging 17:03 minutes.
