Kevin Rooney is a veteran NHL player who has suited up for three teams in the league. The New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, and Calgary Flames.
He's played a total of 330 games in the league and has scored 60 points (32-28), with 134 PIMs.
The depth forward would play a total of 4 games in the AHL last season with the Calgary Wranglers, and scored 1 point (1 G).
Now, if he didn't take it as a sign he'd have to fight for a contract this season, it couldn't have been more obvious.
While he did play 70 in Calgary as a Flame, he only posted 10 points (5-5) as a depth option.
Rooney will have a shot at earning a contract with the New Jersey Devils this season. He will attempt to rejuvenate his career.
The undrafted forward originally began his NHL career with the Devils during the 2016-17 season, and would jump between the league and the AHL.
But he's never played more than 59 games in the NHL until the 2024-25 season.
The depth forward signed with the Rangers during the 2020 season, paying him $1.5 million over two seasons.
Now, he'll have his work cut out for him as he attempts to return to where it all began for him.
