Rangers interested in re-acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko in free agency
The unrestricted free agency board has weakened considerably since yesterday after many top names had dropped off but one name still remains that is an option for the Rangers and that happens to be former Rangers forward Vladimir Tarasenko.
During his career, he had a stop with the Rangers in 2022-2023 to which he then signed with the Ottawa Senators and then led to the trade at the deadline to the Florida Panthers which helped him secure his second Stanley Cup and the Panthers first in their history.
The 32-year-old veteran had a very productive year where he scored 23 goals and had 32 assists for 55 points through 76 games. During his playoff run this year, he played 24 games scoring five goals, with four assists for 9 points and was a + 4.
He signed a one-year deal with the senators worth $5 million and after signing Sam Carrick and Reilly Smith, general manager Chris Drury still has $8 million to spend which could help bolster his offence by bringing Tarasenko back to the Rangers.
He would be a familiar face, and quite likely would have an impact with the team as he would be able to give them more power play goals and more five on five goals.
It remains to be seen on whether Drury will try to land the former Ranger but without a doubt he would certainly have an impact on the team and in the positive way. It's certainly worth a try.
