NHL Beginnings: Star Forward J.T. Miller Relives His First NHL Shift With The New York Rangers
J.T. Miller made his NHL debut during the 2012-13 season. The former 15th overall pick would play a total of 26 games that year for the Blueshirts, and scored 4 points (2-2).
While his NHL career would later flourish, it wouldn't come without some hilarious mishaps. His NHL debut date: February 5th, 2013.
In a clip found on "X", we see J.T. Miller discussing his first NHL shift against the New Jersey Devils. It consisted of him playing a total of ten seconds.
J.T. Miller's 1st Shift in the NHL: Bruising
Miller would show his hustle that night and would pay the price, as he was on the 2nd-power play, and would come off the bench and swing up the left corner, gaining speed, and would attempt to get rid of a dump from the cross-corner.
The forward, with all of his might, would shoot the puck out of the Rangers' zone and would trip as a result.
He'd land on the ice and fall against the boards with his back and upper body taking the brunt of the force.
The moment would live in infamy for Miller, as his father and brother would get a good gut laugh out of the whole scenario for his first shift in the league.
Fans would be concerned, and he'd see stars at the end of the play, and couldn't breathe.
At least he showed some hustle.
Miller stats that season: 26 GP, 4 points (2-2), 8 PIMs, and a -7.
