New York Rangers Star Defenseman Brutally Disrespected By The NHL Following Their Announcement

The New York Rangers' Adam Fox was privileged enough to be put on a list of the NHL's top defenseman for another year. However, the privilege came with a backhand, as this year the disrespect was real. For the 2024-25 season, he was listed as the 16th-best defenseman in the league.
For
Adam Fox, this is a massive slide from 2024, when he was placed at 8th on the list. Which arguably was a massive sign of disrespect even then, as the NHL Network somehow placed him underneath Boston Bruins
Charlie McAvoy.
Now, this year he's slid into the bottom 10, landing at #16.
For
Fox, he didn't have a steep decline in production despite his injuries; he still finished the year with 61 points (10-51) and remains the top defenseman in New York.
Former Norris Trophy Winner Slid Below Charlie McAvoy?!
In another astounding NHL Network list, another Rangers player gets the short end of the stick. This has happened before with
Artemi Panarin, who'd dropped from 5 to 10.
Now, Fox drops eight spots from 8 in 2024 to 16th in 2025. If that isn't a clear anti-Ranger bias, I don't know what is.
While in the long run, rankings are all based on personal opinion, for the Rangers, he's always been an impact player.
Fox won the Norris Trophy in 2021 and hasn't had a season below 60+ points since 2020-21, which makes the ranking below McAvoy in 2024 even more egregious.
For now, we'll have to watch the NHL Network justify the circus of a list they've made, and laugh.
