The New York Rangers need to replace former forward Chris Kreider in the lineup. GM Chris Drury will have to look West, and to the Colorado Avalanche, an intriguing trade proposal involving Martin Necas and Brett Berard made its way online.

However, this latest one involved the New York Rangers and the Colorado Avalanche as they try to solve the Chris Kreider problem. The problem? He's no longer here in New York, and they will need to find a way to replace his production.
The Cost to Acquire Martin Necas
One of those players who wears an Avs sweater who could do that is Martin Necas, who hasn't found Colorado to his liking.

Heavy.com speculates that the Avalanche aren't after NHL players, but instead futures, as they'd receive Brett Berard, an upcoming forward in the lineup, and two draft picks (a 1st and a 6th).
While the Rangers would have to sacrifice draft capital and Brett Berard, they would solve an issue in the top-six that has plagued the team for years now.
Necas scored 83 points split between the Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes last season, and could offer top-six production and play on the special teams.
Of course, losing a 1st-round pick would sting, but it's expensive to win in the NHL.
To make sure it was all worth it though, the Rangers should make sure he's ready to sign an extension after the deal is conclude.
