New insight has unfolded regarding this year's NHL Draft, and it was revealed that the New York Rangers were blindsided by their divisional rivals, the New York Islanders.
This year's NHL Draft is already one for the books, as it was filled with young talent and the event was competitive to say the least.
And new insight has unveiled that the New York Rangers lost a fight for a Russian forward, as their divisional rivals, the New York Islanders, stole him moments before the Rangers intended to acquire him.

On Day 2 of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Islanders have been revealed to have ruffled some feathers with the Rangers' plans.

Following a strong first day at the 2025 NHL Draft, the Islanders were just one spot ahead of the Rangers when they selected Russian winger, Daniil Prokhorov, with their 42nd overall pick.
Interestingly enough, Prokhorov later revealed that his best draft interview was with the Islanders, which is only fitting that they snagged him moments before the Rangers.
He felt such a strong connection with the organization that he even announced prior to his acquisition that the New York Rangers wouldn't get the chance to draft him.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, that the Rangers missed out on this selection, it seems as though it worked in their favour, as this forward is clearly already showing signs of arrogance.
