The breakup between K'Andre Miller and the New York Rangers wasn't a foregone conclusion this postseason. After a disappointing year under Peter Laviolette, GM Chris Drury has worked tirelessly to reshape the Rangers' lineup, and Miller's agent revealed the juicy details between the parting of the ways with him and the team that drafted him.

According to K'Andre Miller's agent Ian Pulver, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary as the trade went through.
Pulver would sing praises of Drury as he operated with complete transparency during the event, which sent Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes.
«It turned into a bit of a whirlwind,» Pulver said. «Chris Drury, who was completely aboveboard the whole time with the Miller situation and very professional, was in communication with me, was unsure whether he wanted to do a long-term deal

«There were several teams that reached out and the Hurricanes stepped to the plate, expressed interest, and then they had to construct a deal with the Rangers, which got done in the meantime. Discussions are going on with the Hurricanes to discuss parameters of a contract. And one thing led to another, and now K'Andre Miller is a Carolina Hurricane.»

The Blueshirts would complete a sign-and-trade which would see the team get a top prospect in Scott Morrow in return, along with a 1st and 2nd-round draft picks.
Miller's fortunes would change, as he'd receive a $60 million contract, securing his future with the Rangers divisional rival, who Eric Tulsky and Rod Brind'Amour believe he's a fit in the group.
«It's a big price to pay, but we think he's a great fit for our system,» Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said. «You hear me talk a lot about how hard our scouting department works to identify players who will fit. He was one of them.»

In spite of how it all developed for K'Andre Miller and the Rangers, he thinks highly of the organization and will move on next season ready to suit up as a Hurricane, playing on a legitimate Metropolitan Division contender.
The only question is, will the be able to de-fang the Panthers this season?
