New year, new Head Coach. Mike Sullivan is set to take over the New York Rangers lineup in 2025-26, and he may see the Rangers lineup different than Peter Laviolette did, as the competition for the 13th spot in the team's lineup will be fierce, as Matt Rempe and Adam Edstrom will be battling it out.

With GM Chris Drury turning over the Rangers lineup with speed, it's apparent that the "Rempire Towers" as we know them may be a thing of the past.
When training camp rolls around, it'll be up to the towering forwards to figure out who will beat who out of the 13th spot in the forward core.
Both Rempe and Edstrom have earned identical $1.95 million contracts, and either forward could land the spot typically reserved for filling in for injuries.

Matt Rempe

Rempe may be a shoo-in for the 13th forward spot. He's already established himself in the lineup prior to Edstrom's promotion and has the battle scars to prove it.
He led the Rangers in hits per sixty minutes with 19.64, and was the sixth most in the NHL amongst players who played in 40 games.
Rempe has an imposing frame of 6'9", 255 pounds, and can be dominant on the ice every night when the Rangers need him to be. In order to improve his overall game, he's taken to training this post-season with Trevor Zegras, Brett Berard, and Chris Kreider.

Adam Edstrom

Edstrom may have to put in extra work for this job and could be down a step already due to the fact that he's still not training at the level Rempe is.
Edstrom may have earned himself a look after playing 51 games this season, scoring 9 points (5-4), and playing 9:16 TOI.
But when it comes to the fact, Rempe is a seasoned NHLer compared to Edstrom, who has only played 62 NHL games during his entire career.
Depending on how far along he is in his recovery, this could be an interesting showdown between the dynamic duo.
