The New York Rangers have received promising news regarding forward Vinnie Trocheck. According to Mike Sullivan, he isn't skating with the team now, but is progressing. The earlier we could see him return is November 1st.
Once thought to be a candidate for Rangers leadership, that domino fell to
J.T. Miller, as the underrated forward began the year scoring 1 point in 2 games.
Trocheck suffered the injury during the Rangers' Oct. 9 game against the Buffalo Sabres and did not return. In 7:48 of ice time, he recorded one shot and one assist on an Alexis Lafreniere goal. New York won 4-0.
The New York Rangers Miss Vinnie Trocheck in the Lineup
Since his absence, the Rangers have placed
Mika Zibanejad on the 1st-line in the hopes he could find his game again.
The Rangers have seen Zibanejad play 8 games, and score only 2 goals and 2 assists thus far.
His 59 point season (26-33) in 2024-25 was scored in his third season with the Rangers. He's scored 77 points, a career high in New York as well, which shows how much they rely on him to deliver offense every night.
Now, the team will have to figure out how to make it work with Zibanejad while he remains on LTIR for the time being.
