The New York Rangers faced off against the Minnesota Wild on Monday night in Madison Square Garden. Where the team had finally put an end to their scoring drought tonight.

However, NHL Insider Vince Mercogliano asked Mike Sullivan about what needed to change prior to the game, and it's safe to say the Rangers delivered to break the scoring drought.
Madison Square Garden hasn't been a great setitng for Rangers hockey this season. Of course, the historic backdrop of the Centennial Season is a spectacle, but a 0-4-0 start isn't.
The team has been in an ongoing slump at home as Mike Sullivan begins his tenure with the Rangers, in a troubling 3-4-1 start.
Instead of using the goalscoring drought as motivation for the team, he believes that the team needed to go a different route against the Minnesota Wild, and Kirill Kaprizov.

New York Rangers End their Goalscoring Drought Against the Wild

The New York Rangers ended their drought at home, and while Mike Sullivan believes the sample size is too small to worry about, an 0-4-0 record is not "small". It may not be a true indicator of where they stand, but in the greater scheme of things, they could change things around.
It'll require elite players in the lineup to change their fortunes, including defenseman Adam Fox, forwards Artemi Panarin, JT Miller, and Mika Zibanejad to lead the way.
"That New York scores early would be fitting," says The Old Scout, "when you consider that tonight will mark the first of eight Centennial anniversaries. What better time to get the monkey off their backs than against the Wild."

Sure enough he was right as Artemi Panarin scored the New York Rangers first and only goal on home ice at Madison Square Garden, but that still wasn't enough to secure their first victory on home ice.
