New Ownership Emerges For Metropolitan Division Organization: Per Elliotte Friedman

It appears the New York Rangers' Metropolitan Division rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, are soon to be under new ownership, according to recent reports from NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman. The Fenway Sports Group is entertaining a potential offer from the Hoffman Sports Group, an ownership group out of Chicago.
On Monday, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Pittsburgh Penguins' sale has gotten more suitors.
The news today was that a Chicago-based firm, the Hoffman Sports Group, has entered the fray as a potential buyer for the Penguins. The Penguins have been owned by the Fenway Sports Group since 2021, when they bought the team for a total fo $900 million.
The Hoffman Sports Group is familiar with owning a hockey team, as they own the ECHL's Florida Everblades. They've overseen a successful run to the Kelly Cup, including 4 playoff runs in recent years.

Insider Speculates The Cost To Acquire the Penguins
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman believes it won't come cheap for the Hoffman Group. The costs could be upwards of $1.75 billion, signed and delivered to own the same team that Sidney Crosby has been a part of since 2005.
