Laviolette Believed In Him And He Delivered!
Alexis Lafrenière was all over the highlight reels last night!
A game-tying goal with only 11 seconds left of regulation, and then the shoot-out winning goal! I'm going to post the highlights here because I know you want to see them again.
Here is the game-tying shot:
Plus the shoot-out winning goal:
By the way, that game-tying goal, was the fifth time in franchise history where the Rangers scored a game-tying goal within the final 11 seconds of regulation, and then won the game.
Clearly something has awakened the beast that has been laid dormant inside the former No. 1 pick, as he has been having an excellent year.
So what could it be? Maybe something to do with head coach Peter Laviolette. He explained why he had Lafrenière as No. 3 in the shoot-out.
"He seems to be in a good spot right now. There are quite a few guys that have a decent shooting percentage with regard to shootout on our team.
It did bump up a few slots for him just based on the way he's been playing."
Lafrenière has been brushing aside any praise. The modest man of course.
"Yeah, but I think it's still really early in the season. We've got a lot of games to play, so I'm just trying to stay consistent and keep playing well."
He is right, it is really early in the season, and anything can change.
But so far he has silenced the doubters 14 games into the season with his play. If this keeps up, he has to start giving himself some praise!
