Former New York Rangers defender's career hit's a shocking low following latest announcement from the Florida Panthers organization.

Earlier this offseason, former New York Rangers defenseman Ben Harpur secured a Professional Tryout (PTO) with the Florida Panthers, in hope to keep his NHL career alive.
However, unfortunately the Florida Panthers have just recently announced that they have released Ben Harpur from his Professional Tryout, with just less than a week until the 2025-26 season begins.

Ben Harpur Struggles To Secure To Keep NHL Dream Alive

Prior to Ben Harpur signing a Professional Tryout with the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, he spent the last three season with the New York Rangers. Where he only played 42 NHL games during the 2022-2023 season, posting one goal and five assists for a total of six points.
After the 2022-23 season with the Rangers, the organization assigned Harpur to their American Hockey League affiliate team, the Hartford Wolf Pack. During the 2023-24 season the 30-year old defenseman posted one goal, three points, and a minus-1 rating in seven games played.
Then just last season he followed that up by tally one goal and four assists for a total of five points throughout 29 games played. Certainly something that left the New York Rangers to not resign the veteran defenseman.
However, with that being said it will be interesting to see if Harpur can keep his NHL dream alive and land another contract before the 2025-26 season begins. Harpur does have experience as he has 198 career NHL games over seven seasons split between the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, and the New York Rangers. Tallying a career total of two goals, 21 points and 317 hits.
Do you think Ben Harpur will be able to secure another contract before the 2025-26 season starts? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to NY Ranger Insider for the latest news and updates on the New York Rangers.
