Former New York Rangers defender's career hit's a shocking low following latest announcement from the Florida Panthers organization.
Earlier this offseason, former New York Rangers defenseman Ben Harpur secured a Professional Tryout (PTO) with the Florida Panthers, in hope to keep his NHL career alive.
Ben Harpur Struggles To Secure To Keep NHL Dream Alive
Prior to Ben Harpur signing a Professional Tryout with the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, he spent the last three season with the New York Rangers. Where he only played
42 NHL games during the 2022-2023 season, posting one goal and five assists for a total of six points.
After the 2022-23 season with the Rangers, the organization assigned Harpur to their American Hockey League affiliate team, the Hartford Wolf Pack. During the 2023-24 season the 30-year old defenseman posted one goal, three points, and a minus-1 rating in seven games played.
However, with that being said it will be interesting to see if Harpur can keep his NHL dream alive and land another contract before the 2025-26 season begins. Harpur does have experience as he has 198 career NHL games over seven seasons split between the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, and the New York Rangers. Tallying a career total of two goals, 21 points and 317 hits.
