Henrik Lundqvist was once considered the King of New York, but it appears that Igor Shesterkin is the heir apparent.
Immediately, the Rangers went from the Lundqvist dynasty, into the Shesterkin era, back-to-back hall of fame and future hall of fame goalies.
You'd think there'd be a competitive streak and a little bit of bad blood between the two. But you'd be mistaken, as Lundqvist has a huge amount of respect for Shesterkin's game.

"He's been so steady ever since he entered the league," Lundqvist told Bleacher Report.
"His ability to read the plays and be very efficient in the way he plays goaltender and the way he moves upright in his stance allows him to move pretty quickly on his feet. I expect him to be one of the best goaltenders again. He's up there every year and challenging the top guys in the league with the way he plays and his ability to come up big when it matters."
From one legendary goalie to another!
Shesterkin has lived up to and exceeded expectations which are thrust upon him alone, as the Rangers starting goalie. He will have to maintain consistency, should he want to be the highest-paid goalie in NHL history.
He will want to follow in the footsteps of Lundqvist who during his tenure, signed a 7-year, $59.5 Million dollar total contract which made him the highest-paid goalie in the NHL at the time.
Both Shesty and Hank have found a home in the bright lights of New York, bearing the unbearable burden of pressure as well.
The only difference is that Lundqvist led with stardom and found Broadway endearing and found himself beloved by Rangers fans.
Shesterkin may not reach the same kind of fame, but he will be known for his consistent performance on the ice.
Lundqvist brought a lot of personality and a rockstar aura to the goalie position, which brought happiness to fans, in addition to his stellar play.
However, Shesterkin will look to secure something that Lundqvist never did, a Stanley Cup.
