Ex-Rangers legend lands exciting new job amongst the hockey community
The Vancouver Canucks released an official announcement stating they have hired former New York Rangers legends Manny Malhotra from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Malhotra was drafted in the first round as the seventh overall pick of the in 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. He didn't end up playing long either with the Rangers as he was with the franchise from 1998 to 2002.
Today it became official that Manny Malhotra was moving on from the Maple Leafs franchise and joining Abbotsford Canucks as their head coach. Malhotra worked on both the power play and the penalty kill before specializing in face-offs last season.
Clearly after hiring Craig Berube as their new head coach the Maple Leafs decided it was time to move on from their assistant coach as well.
The news came from the Vancouver Canucks X account where they confirmed the following news.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announces that Manny Malhotra has been hired as the new head coach of the Abbotsford Canucks.
Manny Malhotra issued the following statement after being hired:
«Being able to return the to the Vancouver Canucks organization is an incredible opportunity for both me and my family,» said Malhotra. «Getting the chance to help develop the next wave of young talent is an honour and a privilege. We have a lot of good prospects in the group, and I can't wait to get started on the ice. I would like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs as well for providing me the opportunity to work with them the past four years.»
