The New York Rangers may make a surprising move this postseason. According to reports, they've made two RFA defenseman available for trade in Zac Jones and K'Andre Miller. Could this help kickstart the retool?

Whether it's a rebuild or retool, a team needs assets, prospects, and draft picks in order to maintain momentum. Whether by trade or draft pick, keeping their drawer full of trade-worthy pieces, it seems that is where Chris Drury is headed next.
For the Rangers, we know they're in a bit of a cap squeeze, with Will Borgen and Igor Shesterkin's contracts taking hold in 2025-26, they'll have to find money and assets elsewhere.
That could come in trades, and according to recent reports, the New York Rangers are open to trading K'Andre Miller and Zac Jones.
Miller's name has been on the trade block for some time, while it appears things may have gone south with the Rangers and Jones.
Miller may be gone sooner than we expect if what DailyFaceoff's Frank Seravalli said rings true as well.
«If there's more than smoke, there's absolute fire when it comes to K'Andre Miller,» Seravalli said. «They are looking to re-shape their defensive core.

My understanding is back from his days in Pittsburgh even before he got to New York that Mike Sullivan in Pittsburgh was not a huge fan of K'Andre Miller's game.

That probably further enforces and supports that Miller is going to be on the move or likely be on the move.»

Wth 12-15 teams in the hunt for K'Andre Miller it shouldn't be too difficult to get the assets you want for the right to the former 1st-round pick by the New York Rangers.
The tale of Zac Jones in New York continues its weird journey, as we recently learned GM Chris Drury and the team offered him a contract, but we're unsure whether he'd sign it or not.
If he hasn't, it might be an indicator he may be on the move from the Blueshirts, which is unfortunate given how much he talked about wanting to stay a Ranger.
In 46 games this season, Zac Jones scored 11 points (1-10).
A trade for defenseman Zac Jones could yield a mid-round draft pick for the Rangers.
