Brennan Othmann Reacts To Hearing His Name Being Involved In The New York Rangers Latest Trade Rumors

The New York Rangers are off to a bad start to the season, with a 3-4-2 record. Typically, this early in the season, it may seem too soon to discuss trades, but the Rangers have put Brennan Othmann in the ear of pundits and reporters as he's been in trade talks lately.
Othmann, a former 1st-round pick of the Rangers, hasn't played up to expectations and was held out of the regular lineup another season. After training camp, Mike Sullivan and company would send him to the AHL.
NHL Insider Mollie Walker would ask the Rangers prospect how it feels to be in trade discussions as the season continues to ramp up:
"I can't really focus really on that stuff. That stuff's really all online. I don't know what's true. I don't know what's false. I've just been super focused with Hartford and trying to get back up here. It's no secret, a couple of the guys in Hartford were asking me and telling me about it, but I honestly was just playing hockey and taking each day, day by day, and keep moving forward and focusing on getting back here and playing at the NHL level at some point this year. I think I did a good job with it and just going to keep moving forward."
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported on the cost of acquisition:
«When asked, the Rangers have requested good AHL prospects in exchange for Brennan Othmann,» Friedman wrote.
Brennan Othmann, The Next Rangers Trade Chip?
He was recently recalled due to the fact that power forward Matt Rempe had been injured in a heavyweight tilt with San Jose Sharks forward Ryan Reaves.
With Rempe out, Othmann will serve as a depth option in the bottom six and allow the Rangers to advertise his services as a possible reclamation project.
He's found his game in the AHL, scoring 49 points (21-28) in 2023-24, but his production would fall last season due to dealing with injuries.
It's up to Othmann to sell himself to the Rangers and focus on playing his best game for his future and the Blueshirts as well.
Only now, the stakes are higher for the team.
