Following the Rangers opening-night game back on October 7th, the organization made the ultimate decision to cut Othmann from Training Camp, making it his fifth failed attempt to make the teams opening-night roster since he was drafted.
While doing so, it was clear to the Rangers that Othmann is lacking confidence while playing at the NHL level, so the next best thing to do was to send him down to the AHL in hopes that things would change before getting another shot at playing in the NHL.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like has changed any especially given his very questionable play on Sunday, where he had a clear lane to the Flames net to either pull off a move and get a shot off, or even just take the shot from where he was. However, instead Othmann made an incomplete pass to
Noah Laba in front of the net.
Certainly a very questionable thing to do, especially when he knows that his name is involved in trade rumors, along with the fact that he wants to be playing at the NHL level.
