According to latest reports, the New York Rangers could be looking to reconnect with a familiar trade partner as they continue to shop their former first-round draft pick.
However, according to reports from Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report, the Rangers could turn to a familiar trade partner for a potential trade for Brennan Othmann. That familiar trade partner being the Vancouver Canucks, who the Rangers made a trade with for
J.T. Miller just last season.
New York Rangers And The Vancouver Canucks To Combine For Another Trade?
Recently the Canucks have been dealing with some unfortunate injuries as Nils Höglander is sidelined for the time being, and for the simple fact adding more depth to their offensive lines.
So according to the Gretz, the the New York Rangers would trade their former first-round draft pick (16th Overall in the 2021 NHL Draft), a player who has showed great production in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, for a return of two draft picks.
Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report listed the Canucks among the best landing spots given their need for middle-six punch and preference for affordable adds. Another trade proposal is out there that sends Othmann to Vancouver for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
At this point it still remains unknown who the Rangers have received calls from regarding Brenna Othmann so anything is possible, but only time will tell.
