In what was supposed to be a year of success, after a year of complete failure, it seems the status quo remains. The New York Rangers are 0-4-1 at home and 5th in the Metropolitan Division. Forward Taylor Raddysh sounded off on the struggles the team is going through.
The New York Rangers and Mike Sullivan were sold as a package deal that would mean success. A pedigreed coach who has two Stanley Cups, and a return home to where his career grew under John Tortorella.
Now, we see him return home to Madison Square Garden as a cleansing agent, and supposedly to be the one to deliver us to the promised land.
After a 6-5
loss to the San Jose Sharks, a five-alarm fire is going off in our heads at the moment.
The Rangers now, with a 3-4-2 record in the NHL and a 6th place standing in the Metropolitan Division, fans are concerned,
as are the players.
The New York Rangers Aren't Difficult To Play Against
Despite Mike Sullivan preaching defensive responsibility on the ice for his new team, at home, they fail to play a suffocating game on the ice.
While Taylor Raddysh's hat-trick would be a bright spot for the night, they failed to protect
Igor Shesterkin.
Shesterkin made 18 saves on 24 shots against, which shows that the defense is leaky on Madison Square Garden ice.
He'd finish with a .750 save percentage that night, and had 11 turnovers that night. Signs that the team has had difficulty controlling possession that night as well.
Things need to change for the New York Rangers and soon.
