Recently it was reported that former New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren will be targeted by the Boston Bruins.

According to The Fourth Period, Lindgren will be sought after by the Bruins as the team begins its rebuilding process after the team had not made the playoffs for the first time in many years.

Lindgren will go to free agency after brief stop in Colorado

Lindgren Had a short stay with the Colorado Avalanche after he was traded from the Rangers at the NHL trade deadline.
The Avalanche were attempting to stockpile talent and make a run on the Stanley Cup but fell short as they were stopped in the first round by the Dallas Stars.
Lindgren, 27, was selected by the Bruins with the 49th overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. However, the left-shot defenseman never ended up playing in a game for the Bruins, as he was traded to the New York Rangers at the 2018 NHL trade deadline in the move that brought Rick Nash to Boston. This is a move that did not age well for the Bruins. - Micheal DeRosa

During the 2024-2025 season, Lynn grin signed a one-year contract for $4.5 million from the Rangers. His point totals dropped sharply after he was moved to the Avalanche as he only had two goals with one assist for three points through 18 games.

Bruins looking to spend for upgrades

The Bruins are preparing for major acquisitions in their roster as they currently hold $23 million in cap space going into next year.
Adding a defenseman like Lindgren would certainly help their penalty kill, help their overall defensive play. As for the Rangers, it's highly unlikely they would attempt to re sign Lindgren as general manager Chris Drury had decided to move on and begin his remake and remodel of his team.
Unrestricted free agency is set to begin on July 1st and it's safe to say that the Boston Bruins will be one of the more active teams during that time or the Rangers will continue to reshuffle their lineup as they attempt to improve as well.
