Goaltender Banks In Shot On Net, And It's A Strange One
Goaltenders banking in a shot on net is such a rarity, it's happened only 16 times, from 13 different goaltenders in NHL history.
It's particularly challenging as the goaltender has to aim for a six foot wide net that is close to 180 feet away, while avoiding opposing defensemen.
Last night, a goal did come from goalie, Strauss Mann, who plays for the Laval Rocket in the AHL. Watch it here!
The video shows the puck bounced off him into the net, but since he was the last player to touch the puck, he gets credited with the goal.
Last time the NHL had a goalie score a goal was last season, by
Linus Ullmark for the Boston Bruins.
