The New York Rangers will have a new look and a new Captain in 2025. With JT Miller leading the team on the 1st-line, Mike Sullivan will have to consider what the rest of the squad will look like when it lines up in Madison Square Garden. Forward Juuso Parssinen looks to be a part of Sullivan's plan moving forward.
The New York Rangers will be led on the ice for the first time by Mike Sullivan this season.
He's already shaping the team to his liking by giving JT Miller the Captaincy and keeping
Mika Zibanejad on the wing.
For the Rangers, this has to be a transformative year in 2025-26, as the team needs to rebound from last, where they finished 5th in the Metropolitan Division.
Chris Drury's retool has been a facelift for the organization, which saw major pieces moved during the season and in the offseason.
In the case of checking forwards, Mike Sullivan has named one Ranger who we didn't expect as 3rd-line center, and it could be Finnish center Juuso Parssinen.
Juuso Parssinen, the New York Rangers next 3C?
Juuso Parssinen played 11 games with the Rangers last year and scored 2-3-5 points. While he didn't stand out as a player in the lineup who the Rangers could count on to post a point, he has other uses.
That could be as a checking forward on the team's 3rd-line, whose main goal would be to occupy the opponent's defensive zone, and create offense, while being matched against the other team's top line.
His size, skating ability and willingness to play a two-way game should serve him well in the NHL, even if he does not light up the scoreboard.
