A new update has just surfaced regarding Artemi Panarin's future with the New York Rangers organization, and honestly it doesn't look good.

Since the start of the offseason the New York Rangers and General Manager Chris Drury have been making drastic changes to the organization in hopes of bouncing back after a very underwhelming 2024-25 season.
Just two seasons ago the New York Rangers were the number one team in the NHL, as they managed to become President Trophy winners, and then last season they completely flopped and missed the playoffs.
So clearly changes needed to be made, and unfortunately another major change might take place as the New York Rangers face a serious decision regarding Artemi Panarin, who is entering the final year of his seven-year $81.5 million deal.

New York Rangers Considering The Idea Of Parting Ways With Artemi Panarin?

Despite the 33-year old forward being the Rangers best player for years, Rangers insiders Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic, have just confirmed that both sides are not in a rush to get an extension deal done.
«Both the Rangers and Panarin, a pending unrestricted free agent, have a lot riding on his performance this season,» the article read. «He's led New York in scoring all six years with the team, but he will turn 34 in October. The Rangers need his production to continue

«Drury will have to decide how aggressively he wants to pursue an extension with Panarin before or during the season. Our sense is he's in no big rush,» the article added «The team will have off-ice factors to consider as well..
In my opinion, if the Rangers and Chris Drury need to think this long about extending a player who tallied 37 goals and 52 assists for 89 points in 80 games last season. There needs to be a reason for it and i think that would be due to the fact they want to clear his cap space for another player, such as Kirill Kaprziov, Jack Eichel, or even Connor McDavid.

New York Rangers Interested In Kirill Kaprizov

Several reports have surfaced that stated the Rangers are keeping an eye out for Kaprizov, a player who is younger than Panarin and would help the Rangers be competitive for years to come.
Last season, Kaprizov recorded 25 goals and 31 assists for 56 points in 41 games.
