NHL Insider Shayna Goldman of The Athletic has linked New York Rangers RFA, K'Andre Miller, to a curious suitor. Their divisional rivals, the Carolina Hurricanes. For that they could charge GM Eric Tulsky quite a sum, should GM Chris Drury trade him?

The New York Rangers haven't signed RFA defenseman K'Andre Miller yet, and it appears his name continues to surface in trade rumors.
Last we knew, there were 12-15 suitors interested in learning more about the defenseman who is a former first-round pick of the New York Rangers.
NHL Insider Shayna Goldman expands on the fact that she thinks the Carolina Hurricanes would be the winners of this sweepstakes.
«Contenders could also look at Miller, depending on free agent departures,» Goldman wrote. «After a disappointing Eastern Conference final exit, the Carolina Hurricanes may want to find more skill to play within the system. If Dmitry Orlov walks as a free agent, maybe Carolina can maximize Miller's game.

«As ideal as the trade route may seem for New York - since it allows management to clear cap space and get more favorable assets in return than an offer sheet - it doesn't necessarily make this team better, either,» Goldman added. «Even if trading Miller feels like a necessity, it leaves the blue line without someone capable of absorbing matchup minutes and contributing game-changing plays on both ends of the ice.»

Miller's $7.74 million deal expires at the end of the year, rendering him an RFA, and the Rangers could trade him instead of giving him a qualifying offer this postseason.
He could be vulnerable to an offer sheet, but given how Chris Drury operates, we doubt it's come to that for the Rangers.
Miler's been struggling to grow into the franchise-defining defenseman he was drafted to be in the 1st-round of the 2018 NHL Draft (22nd overall).
He could end up finding himself in a new situation and a new uniform, depending on how the situation progresses with him and the team.
For now, we've heard chatter of a trade, but no official movement yet.
The Rangers and Miller weren't able to come to terms on a contract based on length, as Miller wanted to hit UFA status, while the team would prefer a shorter deal, according to Elliotte Friedman.
