The New York Rangers are on the verge of winning the Stanley Cup but they still need a little bit of help, and one trade pitch has emerged that will solidify their forward group.
In a mock-trade from the website PuckPedia, the PuckGM tool lets user create their own trades, and one user proposed a trade that has the Rangers re-acquiring Andrew Copp from the Red Wings.
This proposed deal does make sense as the Rangers will get back a player who's proven himself, and the Red Wings get a younger second-overall pick and a draft pick.
However, Copp is now entering his third year of his five-year $28.13 million deal with the Red Wings. Andrew Copp played 16 regular season games and 20 playoff games with the Rangers back in the 2021-22 season, but after the Rangers were eliminated in the playoffs, he signed a five-year deal with the Red Wings.
Copp is also known for being a gritty forward who would fill the New York Rangers third-line centre, and would put up some numbers for the bottom lineup. Last seasons Copp managed to talley 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists) in 79 games for the Detroit Red Wings.
