As the 2025-26 preseason is officially over teams are really starting to finalize their opening-night rosters submissions, resulting in a total of 43 players hitting waivers on Sunday October 5th.
Among the 43 players placed on waivers, shockingly none of them come from the New York Rangers. However, we do see three former Rangers players hit the waiver wire, those three players being Samuel Blais, Erik Gustafsson, and Arthur Kaliyev.
29-year old forward, Samuel Blais played a total of 54 games for the New York Rangers from 2021 to 2023, before being traded to the St. Louis Blues for Vladimir Tarasenko and Niko Mikkola. Placed on waivers by the Montreal Canadiens.
Arthur Kaliyev, who was claimed off waivers by the Rangers from the Los Angeles Kings last season, had a very short stint with the organization as he only managed to play in 14 games. Placed on waivers by the Ottawa Senators.
Finally 33-year old veteran defenseman Erik Gustafsson, who played 76 NHL games for the Rangers in the 2023-24 season, tallying 6 goals and 25 assists. Placed on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings.
