Mike Sullivan Reveals True Reasoning Behind Why Two Of The New York Rangers Top Prospects Were Cut

New York Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan reveals the shocking truth behind why the organization sent two of their top prospects to the American Hockey League.
On Friday afternoon, Mike Sullivan made the ultimate decision to send two of the New York Rangers top prospects, Gabe Perreault and Scott Morrow, down to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Despite the two youngsters showing great promise throughout the New York Rangers entire Training Camp and preseason, Sullivan thought it was best for the two players to start the 2025 season in the AHL.
Mike Sullivan Opens Up Sending Two Top Prospects To The AHL
Following the announcement regarding the two players being sent down to the AHL, Mike Sullivan meet with the media and gave an honest answer on why he thought it was best for them:
«They are two young players that we are extremely excited about,» Sullivan said of Perreault and Morrow. «These guys are in our opinion NHL players in the making. Our job is to try and create a pathway to help them grow and develop to become what we hope will be the impact players that we think they are capable of being.
«We are really excited about both of those guys. We think they had terrific training camps, certainly made an impression on everybody. These guys have the potential to leave a lasting impact on the Rangers. We are trying to make the best decisions we can to try and help that process and get these guys as close to pushing their way to the roster as they can.» - Per Mike Sullivan

It's certainly hard not to agree with Sullivan on this but both players came into training camp prepared and confident, and looking to secure a roster spot on the Rangers opening-night roster.
Something that translated to the ice, as 20-year old offensive prospect, Gabe Perreault proved he can be a true offensive threat and even be an option for the Rangers struggling power play units.
Same thing goes for 22-year old defensive prospect, Scott Morrow, as he proved that he has incredible puck-handling abilities for a defenseman.
However, both players will now be playing critical roles with the Wolf pack this season and could very well make their way to the New York Rangers lineup at some point.
