In an intriguing trade proposal, the Vancouver Canucks acquire $11.6 million forward Artemi Panarin from the New York Rangers. The Canucks add a 30-goal scoring option for a playoff run, while the Rangers get younger. Can Patrik Allvin pull it off?

The New York Rangers are retooling the lineup. With the likes of Artemi Panarin without a contract extension in place, the team could find a new home for him.
While the Rangers continue to tear down their lineup, the Canucks are building up in hopes of a playoff run, and Artemi Panarin could be the next big piece for a playoff push.
Patrik Allvin and the Canucks failed to add any major pieces during the summer, including a center, which is troubling news for a team that wants to make a push for the playoffs. They may have to wait for the trade deadline in order to make a move.
Then they could use discernment in order to find the right 2C, or forward to add to the lineup.

30+ Goal Scorer Artemi Panarin: An Option for the Canucks?

With the New York Rangers set to begin their 100th season in the NHL, fans are hoping for a rebound in 2025-26.
Last season, they finished 5th in the Metropolitan Division, with a record of 39-36-7, and it spurred a flurry of trades, including K'Andre Miller (Carolina Hurricanes) to Chris Kreider (Anaheim Ducks).
Another Rangers forward who could be next on the trade block is Artemi Panarin, who has one year left on his deal and could be a highly sought-after forward during the trade deadline.
NHL Insider David Pagnotta believes that the Rangers could move on from the 33-year-old forward.
"If the Rangers by the halfway point are floundering a little bit...it wouldn't shock me at all to see Panarin starting to steal some more headlines." Pagnotta said.

Artemi Panarin would immediately boost the Canucks offense, taking them above the heights that Brock Boeser or Jake DeBrusk could reach.
But for the trade to go through, the Russian forward would have to waive his no-movement clause in order for it to go through.
The Canucks may not be willing to part ways with multiple prospects in order to seal the deal either, as Chris Drury could pine after Jonathan Lekkermaki, or Tom Willander, plus a first-round pick for Panarin.
