Noah Laba spent the end of the 2024-25 season playing in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack. As training camp begins in the NHL, he approaches the year optimistically, as he knows what to expect this year.
Noah Laba played 11 games last year in the AHL with the New York Rangers' affiliate, the Wolf Pack.
Laba scored 2-3-5 in those 11 games, as he made the adjustment to AHL ice. Beforehand, he had been playing the majority of the season for Colorado College, playing 29 games in the NCHC, scoring 10-16-26 in 29 games.
He'd
be interviewed by the New York Post's Mollie Walker as training camp for the Rangers fired up today.
Noah Laba's Transition to the Minor Leagues
Laba would join the Wolfpack late in the campaign, as he would contribute a short-handed goal against the Calder Cup champions, the Hershey Bears.
The 111th overall pick in 2022 gained a wealth of experience during his short stint in the AHL after ending his college career.
The Rangers prospect was able to pick the veteran forwards minds, as he would get to play with
Alex Belzile,
Anton Blidh, and Nathan Sucese in the AHL.
Just their hockey IQ, it's super high. It's a group that made a lot of smart little plays, whether it be on a breakout along the boards or just in-zone stuff,» he said of playing with Hartford's established core of veterans. «To be able to kind of learn from their collective hockey IQ was nice.»
Now that Laba has played 11 games of professional hockey in the AHL. He'll have to show he's better than other prospects who have made the leap into the NHL before him.
The competition will be fierce, as he may not be NHL-ready, but the team will want to see what his shortcomings are and what he's made of as he joins the team for training camp.
